Let me tell you a secret. The key to happiness is not finding more balance or making more money. Sure, those things may help. But long-term happiness is based on how your brain processes the world. If you can change your perception and mindset, you can increase your happiness. Cultivating gratitude each day is a powerful practice for living a happier life.
Practicing gratitude does not mean you have to gaslight yourself or ignore your feelings. It just means you can stay steadier, bounce back quicker and continue moving forward even when life throws curve balls your way.
I like to start my day with gratitude to set a positive tone for the day. You can write a list, name the items out loud, or meditate using affirmations. The items can be anything that comes to mind and they don’t need to be profound — just the fact that you woke up breathing is a reason to be grateful. The more consistent you are with the practice, the easier it will become.
